This Fuzzy One-Eyed Monster DIY is a fun project for anyone who loves unusual plush characters. With one huge shiny eye, shaggy magenta fur, long fluffy ears, tiny teeth, and a striped tail, this little creature has a personality all his own.
The construction combines traditional plush-making techniques with a few unusual details, especially the large epoxy eye and extra-long fur used for the ears. You can download the free sewing pattern below and follow the instructions to make your own fuzzy monster.

From a phone or tablet: There should be a similar option for mobile devices with Android or iOS. Click on the image. Save it by holding your finger on the image and selecting the “Save Image” option. Then, go to your photo gallery and print it (an option available).
From a computer: Click on the photo of the pattern you see below. In the new tab that will open, you press the right mouse button and select the “Save image as …” option. Then, you choose where the image will be saved on your computer.
Materials and Tools
- Magenta faux fur with approximately 1.5 to 2 cm pile for the body
- Long-pile faux fur with approximately 8 cm pile for the ears
- Felt for the paws and the eye white
- White and colored fur or fabric for the striped tail
- One large epoxy or resin eye
- Metal eye loop
- Polyester stuffing
- Strong sewing thread
- Hand-sewing needle
- Sculpted teeth
- Sculpted claws
- Glue
- Oil or other paints for shading
- Scissors and basic sewing tools
How to Sew a Fuzzy One-Eyed Monster
Start with the body. Sew the darts first, then place the two body pieces right sides together and sew them around the edges, leaving an opening for turning and stuffing.
Next, sew the paws from the faux fur and felt pieces. Turn them right side out and fill them with stuffing.
The ears are very simple to make. Cut each triangular ear from long-pile faux fur. Fold the triangle in half with the wrong side inside and sew the open edges together using blanket stitch. The 8 cm fur creates particularly fluffy ears.
For the striped tail, sew the white and magenta sections together one after another. Once all the sections are connected, fold the long piece lengthwise to form a tube and sew along the edge. Turn the finished tail right side out.
Turn the body right side out and fill it evenly with stuffing. Close the opening securely and finish stuffing and closing the paws.
Now you can move on to the most recognizable feature of this monster, his enormous eye.
I attached a metal loop securely to the back of the eye using polymer clay.
Cut the white part of the eye from felt and glue it to the eye first. Then insert and secure the eye using the same basic method used for traditional teddy bear eyes.

Once the eye is securely installed, carefully glue the white felt around it to the fur so it lies neatly against the face.
To create the mouth, simply trim a small area of fur into the shape of a smile. Glue the sculpted teeth in place, using slightly different sizes to give the face its funny expression.
Sew the finished paws securely to the body. Make small holes in the paws with an awl, then add a little glue and insert the sculpted claws securely into place.
Finally, add a little oil paint to shade the ears and paws. Use a small amount and build the color gradually until you are happy with the effect.
Sew the tail to the body.
Fluff the fur around the seams, arrange the long ear fur, and your fuzzy one-eyed monster is finished.
FAQ
Is this monster sewing pattern suitable for complete beginners?
I would recommend having some previous plush-making experience before trying this pattern. Working with faux fur, assembling the different pieces, and installing the large eye will be easier if you already know the basic techniques.
Can I use shorter fur for the ears?
Yes, although the finished look will be different. I used long-pile faux fur with a pile of approximately 8 cm. The extra length gives the ears their wonderfully wild and fuzzy appearance.
Do I have to make an epoxy eye?
No. You can purchase it online or use another large decorative eye if it can be attached securely. For my monster, I used an epoxy resin eye with a metal loop attached to the back so I could secure it using a traditional teddy bear eye installation method.
