If you are searching for teddy dragon patterns, these two designs bring something a little different to the sewing table. Instead of making a simple stuffed dragon with fixed limbs, we use traditional teddy bear techniques to give each character movable joints, expressive features, and the special personality we usually associate with artist bears.
Both patterns are free, and both dragons were created using discs, washers, and cotter pins to connect the head and limbs. Still, they do not feel like two versions of the same toy. One is a sweet baby dragon with a soft, whimsical look, while the other has a slightly more traditional artist teddy character.

Free Baby Teddy Dragon Pattern
Our first dragon has a round, gentle baby look and plenty of opportunities to play with color. The original was made from two colors of short-pile viscose, with contrasting fabric used for details such as the ears, wings, and feet. Glass eyes, shaped facial features, a weighted body, and carefully finished paws give this little creature much more character than a simple stuffed toy.

Free Jointed Teddy Dragon Pattern
The second dragon is Nessa, a handmade character created with traditional teddy bear-making techniques. Her head, arms, and legs move, so she can sit comfortably and be arranged in different poses.
This design uses several plush textures to make the details work well. Medium-pile plush is used for larger pieces such as the body and legs, while shorter-pile fabrics make the smaller head, arms, paw pads, and inner ears easier to turn and shape. Felt wings and a contrasting strip of longer fur add the final dragon details.

FAQ
Do I need teddy bear making experience to sew these dragons?
Some experience is helpful, especially for the second dragon. Traditional disc-and-cotter-pin joints are quite different from those used in making a simple fixed-limb plush toy. If you have already made a jointed teddy bear, much of the construction will feel familiar. These patterns were designed for makers who already understand traditional teddy bear jointing.
Can I make the dragons look different from the originals?
Absolutely. Fabric color, pile length, wings, eye style, shading, ribbons, charms, and other small details can change the entire personality. The pattern gives you the structure, but the final character is still yours.
