This DIY bat soft toy pattern is a quick and easy project for anyone who loves cute handmade plushies. The little bat has a soft black body, bright orange ears and wings, shiny eyes, and two tiny felt teeth.

I made this bat from fleece because it is soft, easy to sew, and does not fray. The pattern has only four simple shapes. Sew the pieces in pairs, stuff them lightly, and attach everything by hand.

How to Sew the Bat Soft Toy
Fold the black fleece with the right sides facing.
Trace the head and body pieces onto the fabric.
Sew around each shape. Leave the marked openings unstitched.
Cut around the stitched pieces and leave a small seam allowance.
Clip the curved edges carefully. Make a small cut between the legs without cutting through the seam.

Turn the head and body right side out, stuff them. And close the openings with the ladder stitch.
Install the eyes. Embroider a small curved smile with white thread.
Cut two tiny triangular teeth from white felt. Place them below the smile and glue them carefully.
Pair one black earpiece with one orange earpiece. Place the right sides together and sew around the curved edges. Leave the straight bottom edge open.
Turn the ears right side out and close the openings.
Pair each black wing piece with an orange wing piece.
Sew around the edges and leave the marked opening unstitched.
Turn the wings right side out and close the openings. Make several simple black stitches across the orange side of each wing. These stitches create the wing lines and add a handmade detail.

Sew all the resulting parts. Your little bat is ready.

Sew Also the Pumpkin and the Ghost
Turn your bat into part of a cute handmade plush collection.
Sew a soft orange pumpkin. Both projects use fleece, simple shapes, and beginner-friendly sewing techniques.
You can also make the little white ghost with a friendly face and a tiny witch hat. The bat, pumpkin, and ghost look lovely together on a shelf, sewing table, seasonal display, or handmade market stand.
